PARISH ACTIVITIES

Choir
Under the able direction of the organist and choirmaster, Dr. Daniel R. Jones, many parishioners enjoy glorious traditional music at the later Sunday service. The choir is made up of a dozen dedicated people who add greatly to the music program at St. Michael's. If you feel the desire to raise a glorious voice to the Lord, the choir is by no means closed and is always eager for newcomers.

Nancy King, a member of the choir, has added a joyous element to the music program at St. Michael's by working with our youngsters through the Children's Choir. The exposure will hopefully further our younger parishioners' interest in music and inspire them to join the Senior Choir in the future.

St. Clare's Guild
One of the greatest pleasures in worshipping at St. Michael's is praying on the beautiful kneelers in the church and chapel. All of the needlework has been lovingly and meticulously created and stitched by individuals, both female and male, who are members of this guild! St. Martha's Altar Guild
The ministry of the Altar Guild is to care for all the items used in the worship of the Church and prepare them for use in that worship. St. Martha's Altar Guild is composed of members who are invited by the Rector to take care of the church's holy things in the exercise of this most important ministry in the Church. The Altar Guild of this parish is known throughout the Diocese of Colorado as one of the best in the entire Church.

EYC - Youth Group
What a great way to give your maturing adolescent an alternative to the many peer pressures in the secular world. Through social and instructional activities, the young adults gain a better perspective of the faith and their surroundings in a non-threatening situation (arena). If your youngster is looking for fun and camaraderie, it is to be found in this parish.  The EYC sponsor, Mr. Phil Hegel, is always glad to have new members.

Nursery
The nursery is provided for our youngest Christians, ages 6 months to 3 years. A baby sitter is in the nursery during the Sunday service. The nursery is located on the west side of the Parish Hall, next to the Guild Room -- just follow the signs.

Outreach
Food donation each month ~ Annual Diocesan Food Drive, "Loaves & Fishes Sunday" ~ 23% or our annual budget is given in outreach ~ Various community outreach programs as individuals in the parish are inspired to live out their faith in service to others.

Ushers and Oblation Bearers
To help with the services from within the congregation, ushers are needed for all of the services of worship. These are a group who give of their time on a set Sunday of the month and also who schedule themselves for special holy day services. The oblation bearers are needed for every Eucharistic service. They volunteer or are selected by the ushers especially if some specific event such as a birthday or anniversary is happening in their family at the time.

Acolytes and Lectors
For all of the services of worship, servers (Acolytes) in a variety of functions are needed as are members of the laity to read the lessons (Lectors). Speak to the Rector if you desire to serve in either capacity.

Teachers and Chapel Leaders
The church school program is totally dependent on members of the laity giving of their time and talent to teach in the parish Church School program as well as lead the service of worship for the younger aged children known as the Children's Chapel Service. The Church School meets on Sunday morning at the 9:15 a.m. hour and the Children's Chapel Service takes place during the 10:00 a.m. mass for the period of the Liturgy of the Word at that service.
